This airy convertible structure, located on the steeply sloped bank of Lake Austin, is a retreat designed for lakeside recreation.
The Vision

The boathouse and bridge were conceived to provide convenient access to the lakeshore cliffside. A delicate steel grid with wood screen frames defines a minimal structure that hovers above the lake.

Operable screens in the pavilion allow for direct access to the water.

Connection

A 210 foot long wood and steel cable suspension bridge spans across a deep ravine separating the main house from the lake. Limestone steps descend the cliffside connecting the bridge to the boathouse below.
