Bunny Run Boat Dock

Austin, TX

This boat dock's material and massing is intended to look so blended into the lakeside that it appears softly in a state of natural decomposition. Wooden walls, ceilings, and screens create veils of enclosure to form an environment that is consistent with the shoreline.
The Vision

The experience is intended to be an inviting homage to the beautiful climate and setting. A place to become connected to and surrounded by nature.

Convertible Spaces

The structure is an all exterior experience. Walls, ceilings and retractable screens create layers of enclosure.

In Every Detail

The architectural palette is complemented by several reclaimed items: antique doors from India, a timeworn butcher block from England and a steel structure that weathers naturally.

A variety of wood species – Sinker Cypress floors, articulated Cedar walls and a painted ceiling made of Douglas Fir – form an environment that is consistent with the natural wooded shoreline of the lake.
